We Are Now Published On Mashape!

Recommended Posts

This is exciting news! I've finally managed to get around to publishing the API on Mashape. This means a few things:

  1. I can now more closely monitor API calls and track statistics so I can better gauge how to configure the servers and code for faster response times.
  2. I can implement paid plans, as well as offer premium support.
  3. Users can submit API issues and track API uptime.
  4. Users can track their own usage of the API

I encourage you to register for Mashape, and start consuming the API using their endpoints. I have decided to make a 3 month deadline for this change, as I feel that is ample time to get the message out and allow developers to make the proper updates. If anyone has an issue with this, please feel free to PM me or reply to this thread. I'm very flexible, so don't worry about asking for an extension.

As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask!

You can find the API on Mashape by following this link: https://www.mashape.com/xboxleaders/xboxleadersapi

Hope to see you there!

- Jason

Signed up and made a couple requests. Seems easy enough

1) FYI, seem to have lost the forum theme again (anonymous and logged in).

2) Where's the best place to ask about features 2.0 of the API is missing? And I suppose 2.0 in general.

For example, no longer returns: TotalPossibleGamerScore, TotalEarnedAchievements, TotalPossibleAchievements (used to be part of games).

3) How will 1.0 of the API be impacted by this? Even that version seems to be changing a bit, and I'd like 2.0 to be pretty stable before I switch.

If it helps, this is what I'm using the API for: http://media.jamesrskemp.com/vg/Default.html#/home

The plan is to have the scripts used to generate the data for this kind of site at https://github.com/JamesSkemp/VideoGamesSpa but right now it's just some LINQPad scripts that I run, and then do compares/pushes with Beyond Compare.

It's a little messy, but I like the results.

1. I decided to remove the Xbox theme for the forum as it was massively buggy, and I'm too lazy to fix it myself when I paid money for the thing...

2. I've created a new forum for v2.0 located here: https://www.xboxleaders.com/forums/forum/12-api-v20/

3. 1.0 only changed slightly due to a big problem I had with the API itself when upgrading the server, and when Xbox changed some things on their site. I ended up having to rewrite it almost from scratch, so I tried to keep things the way they were, but some things only had small changes. 1.0 is considered stable now, and 2.0 is still considered in a public beta stage. I'm not planning on adding any large-scale features to 2.0, only fixing things that are deemed necessary. By all means, please let me know what you would like to see in 2.0. I'm always open to ideas.

Lately, I haven't been very active and clear on the release of 2.0. I wanted to get it to a public state sooner rather than later, and thus hastily pushed it out in a half-complete state. I also haven't had as much time to spend working on it as I have been ground pounding working on getting my certifications and schooling for my armed security licenses, as I am currently unemployed.

Sorry Jason, it doesn't look I signed up for email notification to replies.

Thanks for the additional information on what state version 2.0 is in. That helps, and it's good to hear that we could still have an impact on what features it includes (pending your time and ability to do so, of course) :)

I'll go through 2.0 this weekend and post a couple topics. I can think of at least a couple questions and a couple possible ideas on nice-to-haves.

Good luck with certifications/schooling/licensing!
